Enoch "Ene" Edwin Lurvey's father, Enoch Lurvey Jr., was lost at sea on Christmas day 1868. “Ene” was brought up with his half sisters and brothers, the children of Rebecca and Jacob William Carroll, and was considered a dear brother to all of them.

He later married Lena E. Bridges.
