William Frederick Stanley (1866-) was born on January 18, 1866 to Robert S. Stanley and Phoebe Jane (Gilley) Stanley on Baker Island, Maine. William first married Caroline B. Ober (1862-1932), daughter of William M. Ober Jr. and Ellen D. (Kenny) Ober on September 1, 1889. William married second Grace E. Thompson (1871-1954), daughter of Charles Ulmer Thompson and Comfort Stanley Gilley, widow of unknown Harrison, on October 28, 1933 in Southwest Harbor, Maine.
William was a fisherman at Cranberry Isles and by 1930 he and Carrie were living in Southwest Harbor. He was a road laborer.
William had an apartment above Freeman's store in Southwest Harbor - later went to live with Sam Lurvey? - Ralph Stanley
