"Uncle Bert woke up one morning and walked to the shore of Cranberry Island. He hailed a boat taking workmen to Southwest Harbor and went with them. When they docked at Beal’s wharf he telephoned for a taxi and told the driver to take him to the hospital in Bar Harbor. He went in to the hospital and said, “I need to be in the hospital.” Dr. Weymouth was not his doctor, but he put him in a bed and said he would look in on him in a bit.
