Stanley - Florence N. (Stanley) Clark (1861-1941)

Florence Stanley was born to William Blunt and Catherine Carroll Stanley on April 24, 1861. Florence married Clarence Clark, son of Seth Higgins and Lucy Ward Clark, on October 28, 1887, in Tremont, Maine. Clarence was born in 1853. Clarence and Florence had three daughters, Annie Downs Clark, Bessie Clark and Marion Clark. Clarence Clark died in 1940 and Florence Stanley Clark died in 1941.

"Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Clark now [1938] live in the house which was begun in 1916 for Donald K. Mayo and completed by Mrs. Grace Clark Pease [daughter of Seth Higgins Clark] as a home for herself. She occupied it but a short time before her death, leaving it by will to her brothers and later Mr. Clarence Clark bought the interest of his brother and made it his home [in 1926]" - “Traditions and Records of Southwest Harbor and Somesville, Mount Desert Island, Maine” by Mrs. Seth S. Thornton, 1938, p. 168. This house is the Grace Clark Pease House at 14 Claremont Road, Tax Map 4 – Lot 53 – MHPC #405-0025.
