Librarian, Alice E. (Strout) Higgins was born to James and Mary (Cory) Strout on February 29, 1852 in Cherryfield, Maine. She married Edwin L. Higgins, a blacksmith on Clark Point Road, Southwest Harbor, on November 25, 1878 in Millbridge, Maine. Edwin and Alice had one son, Fred J. Higgins, born on December 3, 1881 in Southwest Harbor, Maine. Alice was the Summer Librarian at the Southwest Harbor Public Library in at least 1925, 1926, 1927, and 1931. Alice E. (Strout) Higgins died on November 11, 1941 in Bath, Maine.
