Irene Cousins (1887-1973) was born to Edgar Millard and Ella Maria (Burnham) Cousins on February 1, 1887 in Westbrook, Maine. Irene earned her BA in History from University of Maine in 1911. She taught history at Bangor High School starting in 1913. She did not marry. In 1936 Irene Cousins, "head of the department of Social Sciences in Bangor High School, spent last summer traveling abroad. She gave a very interesting lecture on her travels at the November meeting of Alpha Omicron Pi." Irene and her sister, Mary Longfellow Cousins, lived on North Main Street in Brewer from at least 1909 to 1916, and later at the Cousins homes in Southwest Harbor. Irene Cousins died on March 15, 1973 in Southwest Harbor, Maine.
