The MacKay-Smiths bought eleven acres of land on Pierce Head at Seal Harbor, Maine, and built “Wild Cliff”, designed by Charles A. Candage, in 1901.

The floor plans for the cottage are in the collection of the Northeast Harbor Public Library. It was said to have been built for $45,000.
