Street - George Edward Street (1835-1903)

George E. Street organized the Southwest Village Improvement Society and became an historian of Mount Desert Island.

George Edward Street had researched and written much of his history of Mount Desert Island when he died in 1903. "Mount Desert, A History" by George E. Street, Edited by Samuel A. Eliot, was published by Houghton, Mifflin and Company in 1905 and stands, in the 21st Century, as the grandfather, and still basic reference, to all histories of the island.
