Meredith was the librarian at the Southwest Harbor Public Library from 1979 until her retirement in 1986. However, she began working at the library in 1951 at the age of 12 and continued to volunteer countless hours to the library after her retirement. She was co-founder of what is now the Southwest Harbor Public Library Digital Archive.
