Harry Levy (1865-1942), was a machinist and amateur photographer in Portland, Maine. He was a member of the Portland Camera Club and on its Executive Committee in at least 1895-6.
Harry was born on April 15, 1865 to Joseph Levy of Boston, a Russian tailor, and Dora (Harris) Levy in Portland, Maine. He married Mary Josephine Coyle, daughter of George H. Coyle and Flora Coyle, on February 26, 1895.
Harry probably worked for C.M. & H.T. Plummer, Boiler Makers, Machinists and dealers in Steam and Water Pipes, Valves, Fittings, Railroad and Mill Supplies at 48-52 Union Street, Portland, Maine and or Stickney Oil Burner Co., also on Union Street.
He started out as a foreman, probably worked for a stock broker in Boston in the 1920s and 30s. By 1940 he was a master mechanic working in manufacturing reduction valves in Portland, Maine again at the age of 74.
Harry’s photograph of the Stanley Hotel, taken from an unusual viewpoint in Manset, appeared in a national magazine.
