William Sampson Brooks Cram (1872-1933) was born to Albert Holden (1835-1906) and Sally Taylor Bartlett Cram on October 30, 1872 in Roxbury, Massachusetts. William, a stock broker, married Maude N. Uhler (1930-1904), daughter of George Frank and Jennie H. Underwood, on April 6, 1904. William and Maude's winter home was in Arlington, Massachusetts. William bought land and built his cottage in Southwest Harbor circa 1905.
