Alonzo Albert Orr (c. 1842-1895), from Arglye, Maine, enlisted in Company F, Maine 18th Infantry Regiment, the Grand Army of the Republic on August 21, 1862. He was promoted to Full Corporal on January 1, 1864 and wounded in the horrific battle at Petersburg on June 18, 1864. Alonzo was then transferred to the V.R.C. (The Veteran Reserve Corps (originally the Invalid Corps) was a military reserve organization created within the Union Army during the American Civil War to allow partially disabled or otherwise infirmed soldiers (or former soldiers) to perform light duty, freeing able-bodied soldiers to serve on the front lines.) He was discharged on April 11, 1965. Alonzo married Mary Jane Seavey on March 2, 1867 and died on March 2, 1895 in Orono, Maine.
