Henry Wilder Foote II (1875-1964) was born on February 2, 1875 to Henry Wilder Foote I and Frances Anne (Eliot) Foote in Massachusetts. Henry married Eleanor Tyson Cope (1879-1973), daughter of Alexis Thomas Cope and Elizabeth Stewardson Cope, on June 22, 1903 in Germantown, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Henry Wilder Foote II died on August 27, 1964 in Bar Harbor, Maine.

Henry Wilder Foote II graduated from Harvard in 1900. He became a Unitarian minister who preached in congregations throughout the United States. He was an Associate Professor at Harvard Divinity School and served as secretary to the Divinity School faculty from 1914-1925. He also served as secretary to the American Unitarian Association from 1911-1914. Professor Foote was a highly regarded author, historian, and hymnologist. His publications include works about American history and hymnody as well as a hymnal widely used by Unitarian Universalist congregations. His papers are at Andover-Harvard Theological Library Harvard Divinity School.

Henry and Eleanor had five children, one of whom, Arthur C. Foote (1911-1999) married Rebecca Carroll Clark (1912-1993) who was both a great great granddaughter of Nathan Clark II and Mercy (Higgins) Clark, practically the first settlers on Clark Point in Southwest Harbor, and a granddaughter of Jacob William Carroll and Rebecca (Whitmore) Carroll of the Mountain House on Carroll Hill in Southwest Harbor. Henry and Eleanor Foote thus united six of the great Mt. Desert clans of summer and native residents: The Eliot, Clark, Carroll, Lurvey, Whitmore and Robinson families including branches of the Lawlers and Stanleys.
